Race Team Frame Modifications

Avalanche Downhill Racing has teamed up with Cortina to develop a frame for our racing team and now this technology is available to you.

The frame has been modified to accept our MTN-3 shock and linkage kit. The shock mount has been moved up to acommodate our longer shock and the linkage mounts have been bored to accept needle roller bearings and dust seals. The frame also has a longer head tube, 5" vs 4.5", and the frame upper hydroform has been reinforced to accept greater loads for increased strength.

The upper and lower pivots have improved o-ring sealed thrust bearings and the tension bolts provide a positive clamping force against the frame needle bearings. This provides for a tight low friction pivot that lasts all season.

These pivots can be greased thru a grease fitting hole provided for at each frame main pivot.

Shock and Linkage Kit

Avalanche MTN-3 shocks have individual high and low speed compression and rebound damping to allow you to fine tune your suspension for the increasing demands of today's downhill terrains.

The compression adjuster is a high/low speed Ultra Adjuster for the optimum in tunability. The shock is charged with a nitrogen bladder and has adequate oil and N2 volume so you will not experience shock fade during a run. The shock features hard coat anodized aluminum CNC machined 33mm inside diameter body and a 12.5 mm diameter hard chrome steel shock shaft.

The shock shaft is guided by low friction teflon coated bushings and a 7mm wide teflon piston ring keeping stiction to a minimum - while maintaining the necessary stiffness for the most demanding riders.

The seals are high quality double wiper-type with a separate dust seal. This means you won't have to replace seals and bushings every week to get ready for the race. The shock has a heavy duty bumper anti-bottoming system to provide a soft cushion at the end of travel for those really big hits!

The shock eyes are provided with full complement Torrington® needle bearings and dust seals for long life and reduced friction. Three inches of shock travel will allow for 9" of rear wheel travel for our custom frames. The shock can also be revalved to suit the exact needs of your downhill riding style and ability.

The linkage kits are CNC machined hard coat anodized aluminum. Each pivot has two Torrington full complement needle roller bearings with hardened steel bushings and are sealed with o-ring dust caps for maintenance free operation. The linkage leverage ratio has been modified for the increased travel and smoother transition through the stroke. Dust sealed thrust bushings have been added to each main pivot to keep the linkage tight and fricton free.
The linkage kits are CNC machin tight and fricton free.
